Overview

Various settings can be configured in SINUMERIK Data Recorder:

  • Recording file size

  • Data retention strategy

  • Time standard

Recording

The maximum size of a single JSON file of the output data set can be specified between 10 MB and 100 MB.

For more information on maximum file size, refer to the section SINUMERIK Data Recorder – MQTT data streaming.

Storage

The application features two different data retention strategies. Ten minutes after the backend service is started, the selected strategy is activated and checks the hard drive on which the recording files are stored. If the hard drive has less than 20% free storage space, corrective actions are performed every 5 minutes for the set strategy.

  • The default strategy is to deactivate all jobs. This setting does not delete any of the existing files, but new data cannot be recorded.

  • The second strategy is to automatically start deleting the oldest files to free-up disk space. In this way it is assured that new data can be recorded. If the application cannot reach 20% free storage space by deleting data, all recording jobs will be deactivated.

If the checkbox "Alert user when storage is occupied by percentage" is activated, and you enter a threshold value as a percentage of hard disk capacity, a pop-up message indicates when the occupied storage space exceeds the threshold value. The application checks the restriction once if it was loaded to the browser.

Time standard

SINUMERIK Data Recorder uses standard UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) for all time-dependent entries. This is the default time zone of Industrial Edge. UTC roughly corresponds to the Greenwich time zone (GMT).

You can select how you wish to handle the timestamp on the user interface. SINUMERIK Data Recorder can either display timestamps in the local time zone of your computer or in UTC.

This is a global setting for each time stamp, which can be found on the user interface of the SINUMERIK Data Recorder application.
