Purpose of SINUMERIK Data Recorder

SINUMERIK Data Recorder is an Industrial Edge application which enables the user to acquire machining process data from the SINUMERIK CNC by using the SINUMERIK Connector, buffer it locally on the Industrial Edge device (IED) and forward it to corporate IT systems. The user can select from a wide range of data signals such as axis positions, drive torques and tool parameters. Recording jobs can be scheduled either manually or automatically according to the state of the manufacturing process. Currently the following connectors are supported:

  • SINUMERIK Connector

Available signals

The following categories of signals can be recorded:

  • HF (High Frequency) signals

HF signals are a fixed set of signals that are continuously made available with high temporal accuracy by the SINUMERIK NCU.

  • LF (Low Frequency) signals (BTSS)

LF signals can be a multitude of variables (NC, PLC, machine data, GUD) that are defined by their respective memory addresses. Sometimes, they are also called BTSS (~operator panel interface) variables referring to the respective SINUMERIK interface used for data transfer. Data is recorded at relatively low sampling rates with limited temporal accuracy.
