In order to create a shift calendar the following steps are needed:

1. Navigate to the "Configuration" module and click on "Shift Calendars".
   A list of shift calendars will be available where new ones can be added or existing ones can be edited.

2. By clicking on "Create new shift calendar" a form is opened that will guide through the configuration.

   • General:
     Shift calendars are defined via their name, their timezone and a description.
     The timezone is used to calculate the time windows of the shifts defined below in UTC date.
   • Asset Assignments (activate shift calendar):
     Shift calendars are activated by assigning them to assets. Assignment of multiple assets is possible. The selection of assets is based on their hirarchy.
     By selecting an asset all underlying children will have the same shift calendar activated. Assignment on child assets can be overridden. One asset can only have one shift calendar assigned to it.

   • Shifts:
     A shift calendar consists of multiple shifts - at least one is mandatory to have a functional shift calendar. Shifts are defined via a name, a description and the periods inside the shift.
     You can visualize the created shifts in a calendar view or in a list view.
     Define shifts
     A shift is defined as a time range (via start and end date) that needs to be categorized to a specific working mode, such as productive, idle, maintenance or any other via the selection of a time category. Here, all time categories from the reason tree are available, which belong to the categories "Net Production Time" and "Planned Downtime".
     Split shifts
     A shift can exist of only one state or can be split up into multiple periods. If the decision is made to split up a shift, the whole time range of the shift needs to be covered in the periods. By splitting up into periods it is possible to define multiple states of working modes in one shift configuration.
     Recurring shifts
     A shift can be either recurring or a single occurrence. When selecting the recurring option, it is possible to select
     

     • the frequency of the reoccurrence (weekly or daily)
     • the repetition
     • the specific days of reoccurrence
     • a start and end date of the reoccurrence
       Setting an end date is not mandatory - if not set, the shift will continue without any end date.
