Follow these steps to create a KPI type:

1. Show the list of KPI types.
2. Click "Create new KPI type".
   The "Add KPI type" editor is displayed.
3. Assign a unique name and a unit.

4. To calculate the KPI type, use operands, constants, time categories and operators to compose the formula that is used in the formula editor. You can create operands and constants directly for this purpose.
   

   Time category

   The time category is used for the calculation of OEE key performance indicators. You select a time category and specify whether the duration or the frequency of events is used for the calculation.

   An operand is a placeholder that is later, during the creation of widgets, filled with actual parameters from the parameters or KPI instances.
   

5. Move already inserted elements of the formula with drag-and-drop.

6. To copy, edit or delete an element of the formula, move the mouse pointer over the element and select the corresponding icon.
