The focus of this migration process is to make it as effortless as possible for you, enabling a smooth transition from the Common Connector Configurator to the Common Configurator.

Prerequisites

  • The Common Configurator, Registry Service, Common Import Converter, and S7 Connector must be installed and running on the same IED.
  • Make sure the S7 Connector app version is 1.8.1-x or above.

Procedure

Perform below steps to migrate from Common Connector Configurator to Common Configurator:

  1. Copy the latest version of application from IE Hub to IEM catalog. For more information, refer Copying an IE app from the IE hub to the IEM catalog.
  2. Open IEM catalog.
  3. Click SIMATIC S7 Connector.
    The latest version application page appears.
  4. Click Install.
    Configurations dialog box appears.

  5. Click Next.
    Install App page appears.
  6. Select the IED where you installed Common Configurator.

  7. Click Install Now.
    The installation of the app is started on the selected IED.
  8. Once the app is installed, Open Common Configurator.
  9. Got to Get Data > Connector Configuration.
    SIMATIC S7 Connector appears in the available connectors list.

    NOTE

    You don't need to click Deploy at the connector level to publish data and metadata.

Result

As part of this transition, all the data sources, tags, and certificates that were previously configured in the Common Connector Configurator are migrated into the Common Configurator. This ensures that the existing configurations and settings are preserved and available in the updated version, so you do not have to manually reconfigure them.

By transferring the configurations, the updated Common Configurator can continue to use the same data sources, tags, and certificates that were previously set up in the Common Connector Configurator.
