You are be able to import data sources and tags using the add data source feature and make use of the data in your application effectively.

Description

To import the tags using Add data source feature, follow the below steps:

1. Open the Common Configurator application.
   The Common Configurator page opens, displaying available connectors.
2. Click SIMATIC S7 Connector tab.
   Overview page of S7 Connector appears.
3. Click Tags tab.
   The tags page appears.
4. Click Add Data Source in the menu bar.
   The Add Data Source window appears.
5. Select the Communication protocol as either Optimized S7-Protocol or S7-Protocol.
   You can add data source either manually or by importing a file.
   
6. Click Add from File to add the data source from an exported file.

7. Click Browse to import file downloaded from TIA Portal.
   

   NOTE

   You can select either .zip file or .xml file exported from TIA Portal. For more information, refer Export configuration from TIA Portal.

   A selection window appears.
   
   

8. Select the file and click Open.
   The file loaded to the Add Data source page.
   

9. Enter all the details Name, PLC type, IPV4 address, and Password in the respective fields.
   

   NOTE

   All the fields with * are mandatory. Fields are highlighted in red when the mandatory data are not added.

10. Click Continue to Select tags.
    

11. You can apply filter for the tag selection. Select the filter value of Acquisition cycle and Access mode and click Apply or You can select the tags via the checkbox.
12. Click Import.

Result

The imported SIMATIC S7 Connector tags are displayed in the Tags page.
