How-To create TLS security certificate in TIA portal - Manual - SIMATIC S7 Connector - Industrial Edge - Industrial Edge App

Step 1: Protection of the Project

1. Launch the TIA portal and create new project.
2. Go to Settings > Project protection.

3. Click Protect this project.
   This step is mandatory if user wants to create TLS certificate for the PLC. (FW >=2.9 1500 PLC and FW >=4.5 1200 PLC).
   
   

4. In the Protect project window, enter username and password as shown below and click Ok.
   

5. Ensure the Certificate Manager tab is appeared.
   

Step 2: Adding hardware devices

1. Add S7-1500 PLC V2.9 and later firmware hardware as shown below. (Other supported hardware: PLC S7-1200; V4.5 and later)
   

Step 3: Protection of project configuration

1. Navigate to Device configuration > Properties > Protection & Security > Protection of the PLC configuration data.
2. If you wish to protect the PLC configuration data, enable the Protects the PLC configuration data check box and then click the Setup button.
