The PLC must have a valid hardware configuration in addition to all listed prerequisites. Using TIA Portal is currently the most effective method to accomplish this, particularly for Motion Control applications.
The following chapters describe the necessary steps with TIA Portal in detail.
Of course, AX offers also tools to define and load your hardware configuration - the hardware compiler in combination with the hardware loader, but currently they are missing some features compared to TIA Portal's hardware configuration.

If you cannot download to a PLC
- Check the network settings if you cannot
pingthe PLC. - Verify the active interface in 'Set PG/PC Interface (32-bit)' in the Windows Control Panel.
