The Hardware Loader transfers a deployable hardware configuration to a SIMATIC controller.

The deployable hardware configuration can be either

  • a directory with several .hwdat files generated by the hardware compiler hwc.
  • an SD card image exported from the TIA Portal (also for initial PLC setup).

The Hardware Loader supports certificate handling for SIMATIC controllers with firmware v2.9 or higher. It can also be used to factory reset a SIMATIC controller.
