Authorization ensures operations are only performed by users permitted to do so.
In SIMATIC AX, there are multiple authorization mechanisms for PLCs:
- Protecting confidential configuration data of a PLC. This refers to data such as private keys that are required for the proper functioning of certificate-based protocols.
- Access Protection passwords can be defined for different levels of operations to be executed in the PLC. This restricts execution of these operations on the PLC only to authorized users that know the corresponding password.
- Web Server Authorization allows configuring user permissions for access to the web server functionality of S7-1500 PLCs.
- User Management Access Control users and roles with rights can be created.
