AI Asset Manager turns to the IEM on demand to provide up-to-date device information and perform deployment-related actions using the IEM configuration mechanism. For this reason, an IEM user is required to use the services provided by the application.

In the Management UI of the IEM, there are "Admin Groups" and "User Groups" through which users can control other users' access to Edge devices and applications they own.

Admin Groups

Admin Groups provide access to Edge devices. In IEM, the "Groups > My Admin Groups" screen can be used to create groups and add new users to these groups. In this way, the Edge devices of the given user can be shared with members of the group.

After you invite new users to a group, all members of the group have access to all Edge devices within that group. Depending on the permissions granted to the group members, members are allowed to display device statistics and tags and send deployments to the devices. The group's permissions can be controlled by assigning a role to the group, which can then contain different permissions.

The following roles are available for Admin Groups:

  • Manager

  • Apps Manager

  • Co-admin

The list of included permissions for a role grows in the list. An IEM user must have at least the "Apps Manager" role to use all the features of AI Asset Manager.

User Groups

User groups allow access to private apps. In IEM, the "Groups > My User Groups" screen can be used to create user groups and add new users to these groups. This allows private applications of a given user to be shared with members of the group. After inviting new users to a user group, all members within that user group can develop any apps in parallel and share the apps. Depending on the permissions given to group members, members are allowed to send deployments to target private applications (not published in the IEM catalog).

The following roles are available for User Groups:

  • Operator

  • User

  • Publisher

  • Developer

  • Co-owner

The list of included permissions for a role grows. An IEM user must be assigned at least the "User" role for the target private application to successfully send deployments.

Further details can be found in the IEM Operating Manual.
