System requirements

Consider the following system requirements for the installation of the Edge App.

The following hardware requirements must be met:

  • IPC 227E with ied-os-2.3.0-13 or newer

  • IPC 427E with ied-os-2.3.0-13 or newer

  • 512 MB free RAM

  • 2.5 GB free disk space

Ensure that while the overall use case is running, the average CPU consumption on the device does not exceed 80%.

In addition, make sure that no maintenance tasks, e.g. installation / removal of applications or downloading of application logs are being performed during mission critical data acquisition.

The following software requirements must be met:

  • Registry Service v1.11.0 or newer (starting with IED OS Version 3.0, the Registry Service is part of the IED OS)

The following configuration is recommended:

  • Common Configurator v1.11.0 or newer

  • IE Databus v3.0.0 or newer

The following SINUMERIK CNC requirements must be met:

  • SINUMERIK 840Dsl SW version 4.5 SP4 or newer

    • The SINUMERIK license "Run MyHMI /3GL" (6FC5800-0AP60-0YB0) is needed to run SINUMERIK Connector with SINUMERIK NCU 840Dsl.

  • Limited support of SINUMERIK ONE (for details, refer to chapter "Known limitations")

    • The SINUMERIK license "Run MyHMI /3GL" (6FC5800-0BP60-0YB0) is needed to run SINUMERIK Connector with SINUMERIK ONE.

  • For the usage of High Frequency data collection, the SINUMERIK Connector add-on package (version equal to SINUMERIK Connector's version) is installed and configured properly

  • CNC system time is up to date (highly recommended to be synced via NTP)

First time installation

To install the SINUMERIK Connector application on an IED please use the usual Industrial Edge Management procedure for IED App installation. After you have made the application available on your IEM, you can install the application to your IED.

Update of an existing version

SINUMERIK Connector follows the common Industrial Edge rules for applications. Therefore, it can be updated using common Industrial Edge Management Application update mechanisms. Anyway, we recommend to save the existing configuration using the Common Configurator’s backup functionality before updating the application, even if the current configuration shall be reused for the updated version.

The SINUMERIK Connector is fully supported by the Industrial Edge backup & restore functionality.
